Infertility treatment can be expensive. As such we provide the information below in order to be transparent about the potential costs involved.
At your first appointment we will take a detailed history from you and review any previous correspondence or any further information that you bring with you. You will be provided with the details of appropriate treatments and we will answer your questions and address any concerns you may have.
If you have not had the blood tests required by the HFEA (Hepatitis B & C, HIV) already, you could have them taken at this visit. These tests are additional to the consultation cost – so please refer to the separate PRICE LIST. We will also discuss with you the other compulsory tests required, for example Rubella.
If you have had some of these tests performed from an accredited lab, which has been performed within 12 months, then please bring a copy with you to the consultation. This will mean that you may not need to have them done again which will reduce delays and costs.
During this first consultation, the doctor will discuss your individual treatment plan and go over the predicted cost of your treatment.
At this visit, we will discuss all the results of your investigations and on discussion with you we will be able to advise you on the most appropriate treatment.
Treatment may be planned immediately or the clinical team may advise that counselling or further advanced investigations are needed. These further investigations may be procedures such as a HSG (Hysterosalpingogram – radiology procedure to investigate the shape of the uterine and fallopian tubes), HyCoSy (hysterocontrastsalpingography – an ultrasound procedure to examine the womb, ovaries and fallopian tubes), Hysteroscopy and/or Laparoscopy or blood tests for genetic screening.
You may also wish to consider the results and recommendations of the follow-up appointment and so choose to contact CRGW again if you would like to go ahead with treatment at another time.
If you decide to proceed with treatment, we will make an appointment for you to go over the proposed treatment plan again, answer any further questions and complete the necessary paperwork with you. At this stage you will need to complete and sign the required consent forms. This can take up to 60 minutes.
We can plan when you wish to start your treatment and make these arrangements accordingly. Payment for your treatment cycle will be required in full at your baseline scan appointment. (This will be discussed further at your planning appointment).
You will also have the opportunity to make an appointment to see our Independent Counsellor Marilyn Lawerence if you wish to do so.
The stimulatory drugs (HMG) are usually obtained through the ‘Home Care Service’ who provide all the necessary drugs, injections and needles (and means of safe disposal) directly to you.
At your first scan appointment you will be shown self-injection technique. Please note that in common with other units, the drugs are priced separately from the treatment.
The regulatory body, the Human Fertility and Embryology Authority (HFEA), requires a fee paid to them for every relevant treatment cycle carried out. This fee varies between treatments and for simplicity we have included this fee in the cost of treatment shown on the PRICE LIST. The HFEA fees apply to IVF, ICSI, FET cycles and any treatment with donor eggs or sperm.
Should you have any questions regarding the price list, please feel free to contact us on 01443 443 999.
CRGW must be satisfied that you fully understand the information given at all appointments and that you are able to give informed consent to treatment. If you do not speak fluent English, it is your responsibility to arrange for a suitable interpreter, aged over 18, to attend with you.
