Egg / Sperm Share Program

Egg Share Program

Many couples with fertility problems find themselves ineligible for treatment on the NHS but cannot afford to pay for treatment privately. Egg or sperm sharing provides IVF treatment for infertile couples who are prepared to share their eggs with a recipient who carries most of the cost burden.

Donors do not pay anything for the IVF part of their treatment and only pay for any additional tests that are required. Please go to our price list for further details.

Egg sharers go through a standard IVF treatment cycle; however there are extra blood tests prior to treatment to screen for disorders such as Cystic Fibrosis and to check the ‘ovarian reserve’ of the ovaries via an AMH blood test that the donor would have to pay for. When the egg sharer (donor) reaches the stage of egg collection, the eggs are shared between them (the egg sharer) and the recipient. The process is carried out anonymously with the egg sharer and recipient never meeting.

To participate in our Egg Share programme you must:

  1. *be under 34 years of age
  2. have a BMI of less than 35
  3. have no history of poor ovarian response to stimulation
  4. have no history of ovarian disease
  5. have no history of recurrent miscarriage (3 or more confirmed miscarriages)
  6. Have less than 3 previous failed IVF attempts
  7. Have less than 3 previous attempts at egg sharing
  8. be a non-smoker
  9. **have an anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) concentration of 16 pmol/L or greater to indicate a good response to treatment. This result will need to be less than 12 months old at the time of consultation.
  10. undergo certain screening tests in order to reduce the risks of passing on diseases or deformities
  11. have no serious genetic (medical) problems
  12. have both ovaries
  13. have no infectious disease

*: To be an egg donor (where you donate all eggs rather than share half of your eggs) you need to be less than 36.
**: You will likely know the answers to points 1-8 and perhaps not know the answers to 9-13. You will need to know your AMH hormone level prior to the consultation. This can be performed on any day of your menstrual cycle. If you wish for CRGW to do this blood test for you simply call the clinic on 01443 443999 and we will take the blood sample and call you with the result when we have it. If it is normal you may then proceed to the consultation.

Sperm Share Program

Sperm sharers partners are eligible to go through a standard IVF treatment cycle; however there are extra blood tests prior to treatment to screen for disorders such as Cystic Fibrosis that the donor would have to pay for. When the sperm sharer (donor) has completed the donation cycle their partner can then proceed with heavily subsidised treatment cycle. The process is carried out anonymously with the sperm sharer and recipient never meeting.

To participate in our Sperm Share programme you must:

  • be 18 – 40 years of age for the whole period of sperm banking
  • have no serious genetic (medical) problems
  • undergo certain screening tests in order to reduce the risks of passing on diseases or deformities

If you are interested in becoming an egg / sperm share donor or wish to put your name on our waiting list to become an egg / sperm share recipient, please do get in touch with us on 01443 443 999 or e-mail info@crgw.co.uk.
