CRGW Patient Support

Fertility treatment can be an emotional roller coaster so getting support from people who can relate to what you’re going through is very important.

Because fertility treatment is such a complicated process, CRGW offer you an opportunity to talk to a counsellor before you start treatment. This will help you to think about your treatment in advance and how it might affect you and those close to you – now and in the future.

When you have had treatment, finding out treatment hasn’t worked can be heartbreaking. Even if you’ve tried not to get your hopes up, it’s natural to be disappointed when things don’t work out.

If you’re in that situation, it’s important to take the time to come to terms with it and give your body a chance to recover. When you’re ready, you can talk to the CRGW team about whether you should try again and what the chance of conceiving might be if you did. We may suggest a different treatment or discuss any other options for maximising your chances of conceiving.

If you’re unable to have more treatment, or you’re not sure if you want to go through treatment again, you may find it helpful to talk your feelings through with our counsellor. Some couples have different opinions on whether to continue with treatment; talking to an impartial professional may help you to think through the issues together and come to an agreement about how to move forward. Couples often feel huge benefit from counselling and gain much positivity from it.

When treatment hasn't worked, the Team at CRGW are always here to support you.  However we know it's not always easy to ask for help.

If you don't feel ready to pick up the phone or feel it's easier to put your feelings in writing, you can get in touch by completing the form below which will be received and responded to by a member of the team.

Our Patient Support Project

CRGW are developing a project to ensure we offer appropriate emotional support to patients, donors and their partners (where applicable) suffering distress at any stage before, during and after treatment. This may include referral to our qualified counsellor for further additional help.

We will shortly deliver our patient support policy and use intelligence to monitor and evaluate its effectiveness and benefit to our patients in order to continuously improve their experience of treatment services even when treatment has been completed. We will be updating on this at this page in the coming weeks and months.
