The trouble with comparing success rates between clinics is that it’s extremely difficult to compare clinic success rates fairly. This is because success rates depend on the patients being treated and the reason for their infertility. CRGW will treat people with types of infertility that are more difficult to treat or older women who are less likely to be successful, which other clinics decline due to potentially impacting overall rates. The fact that we maintain pregnancy rates in line with national average year after year without cherry picking patients but rather treating patients transparently with a clear understanding of their own chances irrespective of their cause of subfertility is testament to the dedication, commitment and expertise of the CRGW team.
The team at CRGW have consistently maintained pregnancy rates at or above the national rates. An ethos at CRGW is that we do not decline patients for treatment simply because their chances of conception are poor. Rather, we will inform patients of their chances of pregnancy with all treatment options available to them. This may include success rates with their own eggs versus treatment with donor eggs where chances of conception with their own eggs are deemed to be poor. After this patients are enabled to make an informed choice of which treatment option is their preference.
Does this mean you will treat me if I am over 40 / have elevated BMI / have low AMH hormone levels?
Yes. Unlike other clinics who choose to decline treatment to women / couples based on such things as :
- being over 42
- having a BMI over 30 (learn more about BMI at CRGW)
- having low AMH levels (the hormone the lets us know how many eggs you have remaining and the quality of these)
CRGW does not decline such patients but assesses each patient / couple individually and explains all available options.
Does treating 'poor prognosis' patients not impact overall pregnancy results?
CRGW does not decline patients simply due to the likelihood of pregnancy being low. Other clinics will not treat such patients as it will affect their overall pregnancy figures. CRGW acknowledges that treating such patients will have effect on overall pregnancy rates but feels that creating families overrides the desire to manufacture pregnancy rates by selecting patients for treatment purely as they have better chances. As such, CRGW treat a lot of couples that other clinics have already declined treatment to and as a result of this we attract patients from across the UK and Europe whom other clinics have deemed as cases to diffcult to treat or having too low a chance of pregnancy to treat.
