Dr. Amanda O'Leary, MBChB, MRCOG, MD - Consultant Gynaecologist and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine.

Amanda has extensive experience in the field of infertility and its treatment. She completed her training as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in 2005, and then undertook subspecialty training in Infertility and Reproductive Medicine at Cardiff. She is the only female consultant in Wales who has dual accrediation in both gynaecology and reproductive medicine.

She graduated initially from Aberdeen University. She undertook research in Bristol which resulted in her obtaining her MD Thesis. She is a specialist in all aspects of infertility and reproductive medicine, but has a particular interest in recurrent implantation failure and recurrent miscarriage.

Lyndon Miles, BSc, MSc, Dip Clin Embryol, DipRCPath - Consultant Embryologist

Lyndon has worked in this field for over 20 years. He has extensive experience from working in six IVF clincs, including six years as Senior Embryologist and Harvard Instructor at Brigham & Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He is experienced in performing preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).

Lyndon is currently a member of the Association of Clinical Embryologists Training and Examination Committee and acts at a national level as an assessor for new graduates entering the clinical embryology profession.

 Dr Helen Priddle BSc PhD PGCert Clin Embryol - Senior Embryologist

Helen joined us from NURTURE fertility clinic in Nottingham. She has extensive experience in research with a vital component of human blastocysts (day 5 embryos) and brings a wealth of academic understanding of human embryos. After 14 years of research with embryonic cells Helen decided to move to patient treatment as a clinical embryologist.

Helen also has an MA in psychotherapy and is not only passionate about embryos, she also cares about the emotional journey patients undertake during fertility treatment. Helen will be leading CRGW's IMSI program. 

Dr Hatel Tejura MBChB, MRCOG- Consultant Gynaecologist

Hatel is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, with a special interest in infertility, minimal access (laparoscopic) surgery and antenatal care. He graduated from Cardiff in 1993. He undertook his training both in Wales and in the USA. He has been a Consultant at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital since 2007.

He is on the specialist training committee for obstetrics and gynaecology training in Wales and is the college tutor for the Royal College of Obstericians and Gynaecologist.


 Dr Sean Watermeyer MBChB, MRCOG- Consultant Gynaecologist

Sean is a full time Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant. In addition to his Obstetrics and Gynaecology training, he has a First Class honours degree in Genetics, is a qualified GP and has membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners as well as membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

He completed his MD thesis on Pelvic Organ blood flow using ultrasound after two years working at IVF Wales and currently teaches junior doctors ultrasound. He has broad experience of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, having the Special Skills Module in Menopause, the BSCCP / RCOG joint certificate in Colposcopy, and the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy level 2 laparoscopy certificate. He is widely published and has presented at both national and international conferences. 

 Dr Karen Campbell BSc PhD PGCert Clin Embryol - Senior Embryologist

Karen has worked in the field of reproduction for 10 years including 6 years at IVF Wales. She has a PhD in Embryology and is one of the countries experts on the process of fertilisation.

Karen has lectured extensively on embryology and was awarded the best oral presentation prize at Fertility 2011 conference and the ‘Claire Gillott Memorial Prize’ at the Fertility 2013 conference. She has additionally published in 5 of the fields leading peer reviewed medical journals. 



Isabelle Ozcan BSc MSC - Embryologist

Isabelle joined the embryology team from the Harley Street IVF clinic in Mauritius. She has experience gained from time spent at Shrewsbury IVF clinic and also at the University of Nottingham where she aided the development of computer assisted sperm testing.

Isabelle is a graduate of Oxford University where she completed a masters degree in Embryology. She also has a masters degree in legal aspects in medicine from Cardiff University. 


Mrs Emma Weatherall - Administration

Emma worked at IVF Wales for 7 years dealing with the administration of the unit. She is often your first point of contact, and is always approachable.

Emma's roles are diverse and include co-ordinating and responding to patient suggestions. She will welcome any suggestions on how to enhance our service and will make it a priority to ensure that the service is geared around the patients and their needs.



Yvonne Evans - Staff nurse

 Yvonne has been a Registered Nurse since 1985 and qualified as a Midwife in 1988. In 1997 she completed her BSC in Professional Practice and in 2007 she became a Supervisor of Midwives. Yvonne held the role of Practice Development Midwife where she was involved in the clinical teaching of medical students, facilitated development programmes for midwives and worked closely with the Obstetric / Gynaecology Registrars at night in the absence of the Junior Doctors. This combined knowledge and experience of women's health enabled an easy transition to her role as a fertility nurse. Yvonne has a passionate commitment to providing the highest standard of care at all times for her patients and within her role she inspires to motivate her staff to achieve and maintain these high standards. 

Jodie Hardacre - Staff nurse

Jodie graduated with honours from Coventry University. Jodie then returned to Wales where she utilised her critical care skills in her first staff nurse post on a busy Trauma & Orthopaedic ward. Two years later Jodie became a fertility nurse at IVF Wales in the University Hospital of Wales. Since specialising in fertility, Jodie has not looked back and has achieved qualifications in Women's Health and Gynaecological Ultrasound. She joined the CRGW team in November 2012 and is the donor sperm co-ordinator for the clinic. Jodie will become a popular face during treatment as she plans treatments with you, scans before treatment, performs embryo transfers and pregnancy scans!


Angela Balalas - Nursing Assistant

Angela is a a Nursing Assistant. She has a diploma in Access to Healthcare and gained extensive experience working for 8 years in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital Maternity unit, working in theatre and with the recovery of patients.

 Mrs Marilyn Lawerence - Counsellor

Marilyn, has worked as a fertility counsellor since 1990. She initially used her skills as a Qualified Social worker (Qualified in 1976) dealing mainly with couples seeking Adoption.Their inability to come to terms with their childlessness prompted her to explore ways in which they could be supported in preparation for them to consider Adoption as a positive alternative. She trained as a Fertility Counsellor and gained a Certificate and Diploma in Fertility Counselling at the London School of Medicine.

 Dr Clare Lipetz- MBBCh, MRCOG- Psychosexual Counsellor

Clare is a consultant in sexual and reproductive health. She has a wide range of experience in medical gynaecology. Her clinical work covers complex contraception, genitourinary medicine and psychosexual medicine. Her NHS practice is based at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.
